Taro Cake is a popular Chinese savory cake, similar to rice cake. It is made with taro, rice four and other flavors. Taro cake also contains meat like pork and vegetables like mushrooms and scallions. It is eaten as a snack during tea time or as an appetizer for meals.
Taro Cake Varieties
Taro cakes are pan fried or steamed. In Vietnam, a version of taro cake is known as banh khoi mon. Homemade version of taro cake is baked or steamed. Frozen Taro cakes are sold in restaurants which have a much solid appearance. During dimsum meals, Taro cake is cut into slices and pan fried before serving.
