Mandarin Salad

Ingredients
  Mandarin orange sections 1 Can (10 oz)
  Lychees in syrup 3⁄4 Can (7.5 oz)
  Lettuce leaves/Chinese cabbage 5
  Salad oil 5 Tablespoon
  Vinegar 3 Tablespoon
  Sesame seeds 1 Tablespoon, toasted
  Soy sauce 1 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Dry mustard 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Thin matchstick bamboo shoots 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shallots 3 , chopped
  Sliced water chestnuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

MAKING
1. From oranges and lychees drain syrup and keep aside.
2. Into a bowl add the lettuce leaves after shredding coarsely, cover and let it chill.
3. In a bowl or a container combine oil, vinegar, sesame seeds, soy sauce, sugar, monosodium glutamate, mustard, salt and pepper.
4. Add bamboo shoots, shallots and water chestnuts and marinate for 1 hour.

SERVING
5. To serve mix in the oranges, lychees and lettuce, toss lightly.
