Ingredients
  Shortening/Half butter / margarine 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Almond extract 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground almonds 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Water 1 Tablespoon
  Whole blanched almonds 24
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar; add almond extract; beat in 1 egg.
Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture.
Stir in ground almonds, mixing thoroughly.
Shape into 24 balls; place 2 inches apart on
