|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Coarsely cut up dates||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Coarsely Chopped)|
|Coarsely chopped walnuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Eggs||3 , beaten until fluffy|
|Vanilla||1⁄2 Teaspoon (Optional)|
|Sifted confectioners' sugar||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Sift dry ingredients together and mix in dates and walnuts.
Fold in eggs and, if you like, add vanilla.
Spread evenly in a greased and floured 15 1/2"X10 1/2"X 1" jelly-roll pan (it will seem at first as though there isn't enough batter, but keep spreading it toward the corners; layer will be very thin).
Bake 20 minutes until lightly browned and top springs back when touched.
Cool upright in pan on a wire rack 10-12 minutes, then cut in 1 1/4"-1 1/2" squares.
Roll in confectioners' sugar while still warm, then cool before serving.
