Spiced Chinese Livers

Ingredients
  Chicken livers 1 Pound, halved
  Scallion 1 Ounce, sliced
  Soy sauce 3 Tablespoon
  Artificial sweetener/To equal 1 tablespoon sugar 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
  Fresh ginger root slices 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Anise seed 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Sesame oil 1 Teaspoon
Directions

In saucepan, pour boiling water over livers, drain, dry, and return to pan.
Add remaining ingredients except oil.
Cover pan and cook 10 minutes or until livers are done.
Transfer to bowl; stir in oil.
Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
Remove livers from marinade; slice.
Serve cold with marinade.
Divide evenly.
