Sweet And Sour Sauce
|Vegetable oil||1 Tablespoon (Acceptable)|
|Diced green bell pepper||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Diced red bell pepper||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Finely chopped onion||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Water||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||2 Tablespoon|
|Unsweetened pineapple juice||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Canned no salt added tomato paste||6 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Canned no sugar added pineapple tidbits in juice||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Hot pepper sauce||1 Dash|
Heat oil in a small nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
Add green and red bell peppers and onion and saute until onion is translucent.
Combine water, cornstarch, brown sugar and pineapple juice in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Whisk in tomato paste.
Add pineapple, sauteed vegetables, salt and hot pepper sauce.
Stir to mix well.
Cook until thoroughly heated.
MICROWAVE METHOD In a deep casserole, combine oil, green and red bell peppers and onion.
Microwave on high for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine water, cornstarch, sugar and pineapple juice; add to casserole and cook mixture on high for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring twice.
Whisk in tomato paste; add pineapple, salt and hot pepper sauce.
