Surprise Chili Dogs
|Tomato puree||1 Can (10 oz)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sweet relish||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Prepared mustard||2 Teaspoon|
|Black pepper||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Garlic powder||To Taste|
|Lasagne noodles||3 , cooked, drained|
|American cheese slice||3|
Butter an 11" x 7" baking dish; set aside.
In a medium saucepan, mix tomato puree, water, sugar, relish, mustard, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Bring to a boil; reduce heat.
Simmer 2 minutes.
Slice each frankfurter down the middle but not cutting all the way through.
Stuff each frankfurter with 1/2 slice cheese cut in thin strips.
Cut each lasagne noodle in half lengthwise to make 2 long strips.
Wrap each frankfurter with a noodle strip.
Place frankfurter in prepared baking dish so that cheese-filling is on top and ends of noodle strip are underneath.
Pour tomato sauce mixture over rolls.
Place baking dish in oven.
Set temperature control at 400Â°F (205Â°C).
Bake 10 minutes.
Makes 6 Surprise Chili Dogs.
Variation Substitute 4 ounces thin egg noodles, cooked, for lasagne.
Toss cooked noodles with tomato sauce mixture and spoon into prepared baking dish.
Top with cut frankfurters and cheese slices.
Bake as directed above.
