Hearty Bean Chillies
|Onion soup mix/Onion-mushroom soup mix||1 Ounce (1 Envelope, Lipton Recipe Secrets)|
|Water||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Canned chickpeas||16 Ounce, drained, rinsed (1 Can, Garbanzo Beans)|
|Canned red kidney beans||16 Ounce, drained, rinsed (1 Can)|
|Canned whole peeled tomatoes||14 1⁄2 Ounce, undrained and chopped (1 Can)|
|Lentils||1 Cup (16 tbs), drained, rinsed|
|Celery ribs||1 Large, coarsely chopped|
|Chili powder||1 Tablespoon|
|Ground cumin||2 Teaspoon|
|Garlic cloves||1 Medium, finely chopped|
In 4-quart saucepan or stockpot, combine all ingredients.
Bring to a boil over high heat.
Reduce heat to low and simmer covered, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes or until lentils are almost tender.
Remove cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, an additional 20 minutes or until liquid is almost absorbed and lentils are tender.
