Traditionally the couscous used for this soup is the larger kind found in Middle Eastern markets. The couscous was made by hand by women in the region of Palestine. Now they mass market the grain so it can be prepared easily. This soup was Blanche's favorite when she was under the weather or just craved comfort food.
