Chicken Liver Appetizers

Ingredients
  Chicken livers 1 Pound
  Soy sauce 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sherry 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Green onion 1
  Fresh ginger root slices 2
  Peppercorns 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Star anise 1
Directions

Blanch chicken livers with boiling water.
Rinse and drain.
Mix soy sauce, water, sherry, and sugar and bring to a boil.
Cut green onion into 1/2-inch slices and add with chicken livers, gingerroot, peppercorns, and anise to first mixture.
Simmer for 10 minutes.
Cool in liquid.
Cut livers into pieces and serve on toothpicks as an appetizer.
