Devils On Horseback

  Chicken livers 2 (Or Equivalent Of Calf'S Liver)
  Butter 1 Teaspoon
  Cayenne pepper 1
  Canned prunes 8 (Well Drained)
  Rindless rashers streaky bacon 8 Small (Thin)
  Bread squares 4 Small
  Olives stuffed with pimento 4
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste

Gently cook the liver in a little butter, then cut it into 8 pieces.
Season well and dust with a few grains of cayenne pepper.
Stone the prunes and stuff with the liver.
Stretch the bacon to double its size with the flat of a knife.
Encircle each prune in a piece of bacon and secure with a cocktail stick.
Grill all over or bake in a very hot oven.
Fry the bread in shallow bacon fat and drain well.
Remove sticks and place the "devils" on the bread.
Garnish with a pimento-stuffed olive.
