How Do You Make Chicken Gravy

The taste of your chicken preparations depend a lot on how do you make chicken gravy. A yummy made gravy will always enhance the taste of the meal and at the same time, rescue any chicken dinner disaster. The good thing about tasty chicken gravy is that a lot of your culinary mistakes and sins can be easily concealed with it. Whether you depend on cornstarch or flour to thicken your chicken gravy is only a matter of personal choice, but, the ingredients you add with it, makes all the difference.

Ingredients you need


You will need a canned chicken broth/chicken stock, chicken bouillon granules, paprika, butter, poultry seasoning, flour, boxed biscuit mix, onion powder, salt and pepper.
Recipe I - Chicken gravy cooked in butter

For making chicken gravy in butter, first, melt the butter in a saucepan over a medium flame. Now, add the flour, seasoning and paprika to the butter. Add some salt to taste and whisk the mixture, turning it to a roux. Then, add the chicken broth to the mixture and keep stirring it continuously. Next, cook this gravy for 2 minutes over a medium flame with constant whisking. This will prevent lump formation in the gravy. This completes your chicken gravy.
Recipe II – Chicken gravy cooked with stock

Boil the chicken stock in the saucepan over medium heat. In the meantime, mix cornstarch in cold water and add the mixture to the stock, stirring it while you are pouring the cornstarch mixture. Now, continue whisking the stock until it boils down to thick chicken gravy. After that, season the gravy with the poultry seasoning and continue cooking for a few more minutes. Then, mix the chicken pieces with this gravy and serve hot.
