Chestnut Savoury Crunch
|Chestnuts||3⁄4 Pound (340 Grams)|
|Onion rings||1⁄2 Pound (225 Grams)|
|Tomatoes||1⁄2 Pound, cut into thick slices (225 Grams)|
|Vegetable oil||2 Cup (32 tbs) (For Deep Frying)|
|Vegan margarine||1 Ounce (30 Grams)|
|Wholemeal breadcrumbs||3 Ounce (85 Grams, Fresh Ones)|
1.) Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C (Gas Mark 4)
2.) Cook skinned chestnuts in very little water for about 15 minutes
3.) Fry onion rings in the oil until golden.
4.)Place a layer of onions in a greased oven proof dishand then sprinkle on the sage
5.) Cover it with chestnuts and then add tomatoes to it
6.) Heat the vegan margarine in a pan, use the same oil which was used for frying the onions earlier.Also toss the crumbs on this for a few seconds.
7.) Sprinkle the crumbs on top and bake in the oven for 20 minutes, also crisp the top under the grill for a couple of minutes, if necessary
8.) Dish can be served with sauce on the side
9.) Can be served as a side dish
