Stuffed Cherry

Stuffed cherry is a delectable sweet dish which is prepared by stuffing cherry with several ingredients like cream cheese, sugar, and maple syrup. There are only a few recipe variants of stuffed cherries, with one of them suggesting stuffing chopped cherries along with sugar and cream cheese into hollowed out cherry halves, and another one suggesting combining maple syrup, hazelnuts, and cream cheese and filling the mixture into cherries. The cherries can either be stuffed through holes created on sides, or can be stuffed after dividing it into two halves. They are relished the most after being dipped into melted chocolate syrup and enjoyed chilled. Stuffed cherries are a perfect summer time treat when they are available in abundance.  

 

Commonly Used Ingredients and Preparation Overview of Stuffed Cherries

A popular stuffed cherry recipe suggests the use of whole cherries and chopped cherries, confectionery sugar (powdered sugar), granulated sugar, corn starch, vegan cream cheese, and vanilla as the ingredients.    

 

The preparation process suggests first preparing the cherry stuffing by combining together all the ingredients, except whole cherries, and heating them on low flame until a thick liquid consistency is attained. The mixture is then placed in freezer for a few minutes before it is spoon-filled in the hollowed out cherry halves. The stuffed cherries are then served chilled.

Chocolate dipped stuffed cherry- The recipe for this dish suggests hollowing out cherries from the sides, while leaving the stems intact, and then filling maple syrup and ground hazelnuts mix into cherries through the holes created on sides with the help of pipe. A recipe variant suggests combining cream cheese with maple syrup and hazelnut mixture before it is filled into cherries. Thereafter, vanilla chips, semisweet chocolate chips, and milk chocolate chips are melted separately along with some shortening (solid fat), and stuffed cherries are dipped in these melted mixtures one by one. The cherries are dipped in the chocolate mixtures twice and chilled before serving.
