Cherry Date Nut Squares
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), sifted|
|Baking powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Walnuts||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Maraschino cherries||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
|Pitted dates||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
Beat eggs until foamy.
Beat in sugar and vanilla.
Sift to- gether flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to egg mixture and blend well.
Fold in nuts, cherries and dates.
Spread in a well- greased, 8-inch-square pan.
Bake in a moderately-slow oven (325° F) 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares.
