Cherry Flips

Ingredients
  Maraschino cherries 4 Dozen (Red Or Green)
  Icing sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), sifted
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Orange juice 1 Teaspoon
  Desiccated coconut 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Ground almonds 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (We Also Used Ground Pecans, Walnuts & Peanuts)
Directions

MAKING
1) Drain cherries on absorbent paper toweling.
2) Mix butter with icing sugar, creaming well and stir in orange juice and coconut thoroughly.
3) Make small patties from teaspoonsful of the mixture and wrap around drained cherries to form small balls.
4) Coat the balls in finely ground nuts.

SERVING
5) Serve chilled.

TIPS
Cherries can be substituted with cut up glazed pineapple, candied ginger or dates.
