Wheaties Cherry Blinks

  Shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Milk 1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Vanilla 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Flour 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Gold Medal)
  Baking powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Soda 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Raisins/Cut up dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Nuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
  Wheaties 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Crushed candied cherries/Maraschino cherries 1 Tablespoon

Heat oven to 375° (quick mod.).
Mix shortening, sugar, and egg.
Stir in milk and vanilla.
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Blend dry ingredients together; stir in.
Mix in raisins and nuts.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls into Wheaties.
Roll gently so balls of dough are completely coated.
Place about 2" apart on greased baking sheet.
Top with a piece of cherry.
Bake 10 to 12 min., or until no imprint remains when touched lightly.
