|Onion||1 Tablespoon, minced or grated|
|Egg||1⁄2 (To Bind Cheese Rarebit Mixture)|
|Made mustard||1 Teaspoon (Leveled)|
|Hamburger buns/Soft rolls||4|
|Lean steak||8 Ounce, minced (Fairly Lean)|
|Grated cheddar cheese||6 Ounce, grated|
Make the hamburgers.
Mix together all the ingredients, divide into equal portions and shape into round flat cakes slightly larger than the buns.
Prepare the rarebit mixture.
Cream the butter or margarine with the seasonings, add grated cheese and milk and mix well.
Grill or fry the hamburgers 2 or 3 minutes on each side.
Spread a generous helping of the rarebit mixture over both sides of each split hamburger bun and grill to a golden brown.
Put a cooked hamburger on bottom of the grilled bun and close.
