Sesame Cheese Straws's picture
  All purpose flour 325 Milliliter (1 1/4 Cup)
  Salt 1⁄8 Teaspoon (1 Milliliter)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon (5 Milliliters)
  Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 175 Milliliter (2/3 Cup)
  Mayonnaise 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cups)
  Cold water 45 Milliliter (3 Tablespoons)
  Egg yolk 1
  Sesame seeds 1 Teaspoon

Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl and add the cheese.
Combine the mayonnaise and water; and stir all at once into the dry ingredients to form a stiff pastrylike dough.
Press dough into a ball.
Roll out on a floured board into a rectangle a little thicker than pie pastry.
Brush with egg yolk which has been slightly beaten with a few drops of water.
Sprinkle generously with sesame seeds.
Cut into strips.
Bake on an ungreased cooky sheet 'for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden at 425F (220C).
These cheese straws keep well in a covered tin for 2 or 3 weeks.
