Illinois Representative Mike Tryon shares a recipe he developed for a hot, simple and diabetes-friendly breakfast cereal.
1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (or almond milk/soy milk)
1 1⁄2 Tablespoon
1 Tablespoon, chopped
1. In a large pot, put together water, milk and quinoa; let it cook for 5 minutes until quinoa is done.
2. Add in the banana, oatmeal, oatmeal bran, salt and cinnamon powder; cook for another 3 minutes.
3. Add in the walnut, brown sugar and vanilla; mix well.
