Canadian Macaroni And Cheese

Ingredients
  Elbow macaroni 8 Ounce
  Onion 1 Small, chopped
  Butter/Margarine 2 Tablespoon
  Tomatoes 1 Can (10 oz) (1 Pound 4 Ounce)
  Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 4 Ounce
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Basil leaf 1⁄2 Teaspoon, crumbled
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
Directions

Cook macaroni in boiling salted water in a kettle, following label directions; drain; spoon into an 8-cup baking dish.
Saute onion lightly in butter or margarine in a large frying pan; stir in tomatoes, 1/2 cup of cheese, and seasonings.
Heat, stirring, just until cheese melts.
Stir into macaroni; sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 50 minutes, or until hot.
