Ingredients
  Bread crumbs 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Raisins 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Melted butter 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Molasses 3 Tablespoon
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
  Hot water 1 Tablespoon
  Flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Soak bread in a little water for a few minutes.
Squeeze out water and rub bread between hands.
Measure 3 cups without pressing down.
Combine bread, raisins, sugar, salt and spices, and mix with a fork.
Add melted butter, molasses and soda which has been dissolved in hot water.
Add flour and combine well.
Pour mixture in dampened pudding bag.
Tie tightly, leaving a little slackness to allow pudding to expand.
Boil for 1 1/2 hours.
Serve with heated molasses.
Good with Newfoundland Jiggs Dinner.
