|Chopped onion||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Buttermilk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Corn meal||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Garlic salt||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
Sift & mix dry ingredients.
Beat buttermilk & egg together, add to dry ingredients.
Mix well till very thick batter.
Drop by spoon and finger into deep hot (350 degrees) oil.
Turn as they cook, and fry until golden brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels.
