|Sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||3 Tablespoon, sifted|
|Baking powder||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Semi-sweet chocolate morsels||1 Cup (16 tbs), ground|
|Candied orange peel||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), chopped|
|Shortening||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Whole blanched almonds||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), finely chopped|
|Lemon rind||1 Teaspoon, grated|
1)In a bowl, beat eggs until thick.
2)Slowly add sugar and continue beating until very thick.
3)Add flour and baking powder to egg mixture.
4)Add remaining ingredients and blend well.
5)Take a baking sheet lined with browned paper and drop spoonsful, 2 inches apart.
6)Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool on brown paper.
7)To remove cookies, wet paper underneath cookies and peel them off.
8)Serve the Florentines when desired.
