|Custard||4 Cup (64 tbs), stirred|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Pour custard into 4 custard cups.
Beat egg whites with salt until frothy, gradually beat in, sugar, a little at a time, and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
Using a serving spoon dipped in cold water, float a large spoonful of meringue on each custard.
Set custard cups in a large pan of ice water and broil 4" from heat until tinged with brown.
Serve at once.
