Beef In Red Wine Pot Roast
|Stewing steak||1 Pound, diced|
|Red wine||1⁄2 Pint|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), peeled and crushed|
|Tomato puree||2 Teaspoon|
|Lean bacon||3 Ounce, derinded and cut into strips|
|Baby onions||12 , peeled|
|Mushrooms||4 Ounce, peeled and quartered|
Brown meat on all sides in hot lard in a saucepan for 2-3 min.
Sprinkle in the flour and brown it carefully.
Add wine, water, garlic, tomato puree, salt and pepper.
Fry bacon and onions together for 5 min.
Add to the meat.
Cover with wetted greaseproof paper and a lid, and simmer gently for 2 hours.
Add mushrooms and cook for a further 10-15 min.
