|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Dark molasses||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Gold medal flour||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Salt||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ginger||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Mix well shortening and sugar.
Stir in molasses and water.
Measure flour by dipping method (p.5) or by sifting.
Stir dry ingredients together; blend into shortening mixture.
Chill dough several hours or overnight.
Heat oven to 375° (quick mod.).
Roll dough 1/4" thick on floured board.
Cut in 3" circles.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Place on well-greased baking sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 min.
Leave on baking sheet a few min before removing to prevent breaking.
Store in covered cooky jar.
