|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Anise oil||3 Drop|
|Hot water||1 Tablespoon|
|All purpose flour||3 1⁄3 Cup (53.33 tbs)|
|Pepper white||1⁄8 Teaspoon|
Heat oven to 350°.
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, egg, molasses, anise oil and water.
Blend in remaining ingredients.
Knead dough until of right consistency for molding.
Shape dough by level teaspoonfuls into balls.
Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake about 12 minutes or until golden brown on bottom.
Store in airtight container.
For softer cookies, store with a slice of apple.
