Steamed Rice Cake

Steamed rice cakes are of South Asian origin where they are found in many shapes, sizes and colors. Most steamed rice cake batters are leavened either with yeast, baking soda or curd. Square, round and ball shaped are the common steamed rice cake shapes. Colorful rice cakes are commonly served as Kueh. Steamed rice cakes are eaten for breakfast, as a snack or appetizer. Some rice cakes have special molds for steaming them.
