Green Tea Cake

Green tea cake is a soft moist dessert like any other cake which is flavored with green tea powder. The cake is low on sweetness and popularly enjoyed as tea time cake, however some chefs also frost the cake and make it for birthdays. Although green tea is popular in China and Japan, the cake is a part of world cuisine which has many versions none of which can be marked as original. Preparing Green Tea Cake A sponge is made by creaming sugar and fat, to which eggs are added. Flour and green tea powder is then folded in and the sponge mixture is baked in an oven. Once cooled the sponge is sliced and served or iced with a green tea flavored cream. Green tea icing or cream is made by mixing green tea concoction or powder in cream cheese and using that to ice the green tea sponge.
