Old Fashioned Marble Cake

Ingredients
  White sugar 375 Milliliter (1 1/2 Cup)
  Milk 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cups)
  Egg whites 4
  Butter 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cups)
  Brown sugar 250 Milliliter (1 Cup)
  Molasses/Maple syrup 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cups)
  Egg yolks 4
  All purpose flour 625 Milliliter (2 1/2 Cups)
  Soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon (2 Milliliters)
  Cream of tartar 1 Teaspoon (5 Milliliters)
  Cloves 7 Milliliter (1/2 Tablespoon)
  Allspice 7 Milliliter (1/2 Tablespoon)
  Cinnamon 7 Milliliter (1/2 Tablespoon)
  Nutmeg 7 Milliliter (1/2 Tablespoon)
  Sour milk 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cups)
Directions

Cream butter, add sugar and cream together.
Measure sifted flour and sift" again with soda and cream Of tartar.
Add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk.
Beat well and fold in beaten egg whites.
Cream butter, add sugar and molasses or maple syrup and continue creaming.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
Measure flour and sift with soda, cream of tartar and spices.
Add alternately with sour milk to first mixture.
Beat well.
Drop alternate spoonfuls of light and dark batter into greased layer cake pans.
Bake for 50 minutes at 350F (180C).
