Orange Cake

Orange cake is a favorite at our family during the summer and spring time. Fresh with the flavors of sun kissed oranges, the orange cake also has a hint of lemon and is baked with flour, eggs, sugar and shortening.
Ingredients
  Shortening 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Eggs 1 1⁄2
  Orange 1 , grated rind
  Cake flour 3 Cup (48 tbs), sifted
  Baking powder 4 Teaspoon
  Salt 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Orange juice 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 350F degrees
MAKING
2.In a bowl, cream shortening, add sugar gradually, creaming until light and fluffy.
3.Add well beaten eggs in thirds, beating well after each addition.
4.Add orange rind.
5.Sift dry ingredients together 3 times and add alternately with liquids to creamed mixture.
6.Pour into cake pans lined with waxed paper.
7.Bake in a moderate oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
SERVING
8.Serve with ice cream
