Apple Upside Down Cake
|Apples||2 Medium, peeled and cored|
|Light corn syrup/Dark corn syrup||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||2 Tablespoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1 Teaspoon|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Buttermilk baking mix||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Ground allspice||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
Cut apples crosswise into 9 slices.
Melt margarine in a saucepan over medium heat; pour into an 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish.
Mix corn syrup, brown sugar and cinnamon into margarine.
Arrange apple slices in bottom of dish; sprinkle with nuts.
Bake in preheated 350Â° F oven 15 minutes.
Stir together baking mix, sugar and allspice in a large bowl.
Beat together egg and milk; add to dry mixture, stirring until moistened.
Pour batter over hot apple slices.
Bake in preheated 350Â° F oven 35 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
Loosen edges; invert on serving platter and cool 10 minutes before removing from baking dish.
