Festive Eggnog Cake

The festive eggnog cake is prepared with eggnog in the cake batter and flavored with added nutmeg. Baked with a mix of flour, sugar and eggs with eggnog, the festive eggnog cake is rich and heavy on the holiday flavor and taste.
Ingredients
  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Eggs 3
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Vanilla extract 1 Tablespoon
  Baking powder 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Tablespoon
  Soft butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Nutmeg 1⁄4 Tablespoon
Directions

Grease and flour bottoms of two 9 inch round pans or two 8 inch square pans.
Combine all ingredients in a large mixer bowl.
Blend well at low speed of electric mixer.
Then beat 1 minute at low speed.
Pour in pans.
Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
Cool; fill and frost.

I want to bake a cake for my diabetic adult son - I don't see how this is any different from other cake recipes. Will it make a difference if I substitute Splenda for the sugar? Please answer soon, his birthday is in two days (today is 12/15/09) Thank you.
