|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , separated|
|Sour cream||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Unsweetened chocolate squares||2|
|Boiling water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
Cream butter and add sugar gradually creaming between each addition.
Add the beaten yolks, sour cream and vanilla.
Melt the chocolate in the boiling water.
Sift the dry ingredi ents together and add to the creamed mixture alternately with the hot waer and chocolate mixture, beating after each addition.
Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake at 350F in two greased layer cake tins.
