|Water||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Flour||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Baking soda||2 Teaspoon|
Combine the raisins and water in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Simmer, uncovered, until 2 cups of water remain.
Cream the shortening and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Sift the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and salt over the shortening mixture.
Add the raisin mixture and mix well.
Spoon into a greased 9x13 inch cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
