Chocolate And Molasses Cake
|Cocoa powder||1 Tablespoon (Regular Not Instant)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking soda||2 Teaspoon|
|Warm milk||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
Blend cocoa powder with 3 tablespoons hot water and let cool.
Beat butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
Gradually add the egg, beating well.
Mix in cocoa and butter.
Sift flour with baking soda.
Mix molasses with warm milk.
Fold flour and molasses alternately into the creamed mixture.
Line the bottom of a 9 inch round glass baking dish with waxed paper.
Pour mixture into prepared dish.
Cook on simmer setting for 7 minutes and then on highest setting for 3 to 4 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool for 5 minutes before removing from dish.
Decorate with halves of candied cherries.
