|Soft butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Diced walnuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Lemon||1 , juiced|
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl.
Add butter & egg.
Knead until dough is firm and shapes easily into a ball.
Wrap in wax paper; refrigerate 1 hour.
Peel apples; cut into small pieces.
Add sugar, nuts, lemon juice and cinnamon.
Let mixture steep until dough is ready.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Butter a 9" springform pan.
Divide dough into thirds.
Roll out 1/3 to line bottom of pan.
Roll another 1/3 and line inside halfway to top of pan, pressing bottom rim to seal sides and bottom.
Drain fruit and pour into pastrylined pan.
Roll out last 1/3 of dough and make strips.
Place strips crisscross on top of filling.
Bake until golden brown, 45 to 55 minutes.
Cool and serve.
