Nut Torte Cake
|Graham cracker crumbs||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Walnuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), finely chopped|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Egg whites||12 , beaten stiff|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Combine egg yolks and sugar until thick.
Mix together dry ingredients.
Add to egg yolk mixture.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in 2 ungreased 9 inch pans at 375 degrees F 45 minutes.
Let cool 5 minutes, then place on racks.
When cooled thoroughly, fill and frost.
Frosting: Blend flour and milk in a sm.saucepan.
Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
Beat remaining ingredients until creamy.
Add chilled paste, a bit at a time until mixture is creamy.
