Marbled Coffee Cake

|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Shortening||2 Tablespoon, melted|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Quick bread mix||2 Tablespoon|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Combine 2 cups quick bread mix and sugar in a mixing bowl, add milk, egg, and shortening, and beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth.
Remove 1 cup batter, combine with molasses, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
Place spoonfuls of plain batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan in a checkerboard pattern.
Spoon spiced batter in spaces around plain batter, gently swirl with a knife.
Combine brown sugar, 2 tablespoons quick bread mix, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl.
Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Sprinkle mixture over batter.
Bake at 375Â° for 25 to 30 minutes.
