In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Chocolate Angel Food Cake. This cake is very easy to make and is quite delicious!
Egg whites | 12 ((at room temperature)) | |
Cream of tartar | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Sugar | 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs) | |
Cake flour | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Cocoa powder | 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) | |
Vanilla extract | 1 1/2 Teaspoon |
GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
MAKING
2. In a large bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until foamy.
3. Add cream of tartar and salt. Continue to beat until soft peaks form.
4. Add sugar, a little at a time and beat after each addition until stiff peaks form.
5. In a small bowl, combine cake flour and cocoa powder.
6. Fold flour mixture into the egg white mixture. Pour vanilla and fold it in.
7. Into ungreased 10-inch tube pan, pour the batter and spread evenly. Remove the air bubbles if any.
8. Pop in oven and bake for 25-35 minutes or until a cake tester when inserted comes out clean. Cover with foil, if needed to prevent from browning.
9. Invert pan and let cool for 40 minutes. Use a knife to loosen the cake from sides of pan and from tube. Transfer to a cake plate and let cool completely.
SERVING
10. Cut into slices and serve plain or frosted.
