Apple Cake With Hot Butterscotch Sauce
|Chopped dates||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Calvados/Apple cider||125 Milliliter|
|Unsalted butter||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Grated peeled apples||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Tablespoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Butterscotch sauce||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
In saucepan, combine dates and Calvados; cover and heat until bubbly; simmer for 1 minute.
In large bowl, cream butter with sugar until fluffy.
Beat in eggs, one at a time; stir in apples and date mixture.
Stir together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves; gently stir into batter just until mixed.
Spread in greased 13- x 9-inch (3.5 L) cake pan; bake in 350Ã‚Â°F (180Ã‚Â°C) oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
Let cool slightly on rack.
Serve warm with Hot Butterscotch Sauce.
