Orange Slice Cake
|Candy orange slices||1 Pound|
|Chopped dates||8 Ounce|
|Chopped nuts||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sifted flour||3 1⁄2 Cup (56 tbs)|
|Margarine||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Buttermilk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shredded coconut||1 Can (10 oz)|
|Confectioner' s sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Orange juice||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Cut candy slices into small pieces! Coat dates, candy and nuts in 1/2 cup flour; set aside.
Cream margarine with sugar; add eggs, one at a time, blending well after each addition.
Sift remaining flour with soda; add to buttermilk mixture.
Fold in candy mixture, stirring well; add coconut.
Place in greased and floured 9-inch tube pan.
Bake for 3 hours at 250 degrees.
Leave cake in pan.
Mix sugar and juice well; pour over hot cake.
Leave cake in tube pan until cooled thoroughly.
