Orange Slice Holiday Cake
|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sour milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Flour||2 Cup (32 tbs), sifted|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Orange||1 Pound, sliced|
|Dates||6 Ounce, chopped|
|Nuts||2 Cup (32 tbs), chopped|
|Flaked coconut||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Orange juice||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Cream together shortening, brown sugar & molasses.
Add eggs; beat well.
Add milk & sifted flour slowly with seasonings, mix well.
Add fruits, dates, nuts and coconut to batter and mix well.
Pour into well greased and floured bundt pan.
Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours.
Make glaze by dissolving sugar in juice over medium heat.
Pour over the warm cake.
