Martha Washington's Holiday Fruit Cake

Ingredients
  Butter 1 Pound
  Sugar 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , beaten
  Flour 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Currants 3 Pound
  Raisins 2 Pound
  Citron 1 1⁄4 Pound, chopped
  Hickory nuts 1 Pound, shelled and chopped
  Water 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brandy 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cloves 1 Tablespoon
  Cinnamon 2 Tablespoon
  Mace 3 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 3 Teaspoon
Directions

Blend butter and sugar.
Add beaten eggs and flour.
Set aside.
Mix fruits and nuts.
Add water mixed with brandy.
Sprinkle spices over the mixture, then combine thoroughly with first mixture.
Bake in well-greased loaf pans in 325°F oven for 2 hours.
