Ingredients
  Cooked pie apples/2 pound apples 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Stewed)
  Butter 3 Ounce
  White bread slice 3
  Breadcrumbs 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Brown sugar 3 Ounce
  Orange juice 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Melt the butter in a skillet, and dip each slice of bread in it, keeping one side dry.
Move butter around the pan so that the sides are coated.
Arrange the sliced bread on the bot- tom.
Place a layer of apples in the pan, cover thickly with crumbs, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Repeat layers of apple and crumbs until they are used up, finishing with crumbs.
Dot with a little butter and pour over Vi cup orange juice.
Cover tightly and cook over a gentle heat.
Serve from pan with hot custard.
