Buttermilk Spice Cake
|All purpose flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||3⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Buttermilk||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Vanilla||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Frosting||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugars, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and cloves.
Add buttermilk and shortening.
Beat 2 minutes on medium speed of electric mixer.
Add eggs; beat 2 minutes more.
Spread batter in three greased and floured 8x1 1/2-inch round baking pans.
Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
Cool 5 minutes; remove layers from pans.
Cool on racks.
Fill with Vanilla Filling and frost with Sea Foam Frosting.
