Decorated Party Cake
|Basic white cake layer||2|
|Sugar less jam||6 Tablespoon|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Icing:)|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Icing:)|
|Egg whites||2 (Icing:)|
|Cream of tartar||1⁄4 Teaspoon (Icing:)|
Bring water and sugar to a boil.
Cook to 240° or soft ball stage.
Don't burn! Whip egg whites with cream of tartar to soft peaks.
Slowly pour in hot sugar syrup.
Whip to firm peaks.
Assembly: Place one cake layer on serving plate.
Spread top with 3 tbs jam.
Place second layer on top of first.
Spread top with remaining 3 tbs jam.
Frost sides of cake with icing.
Pipe a shell border around top and bottom edge and place fresh flowers on top, if desired.
