Chocolate Almond Cake L'Orange
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Unsweetened bakers chocolate square||4 , melted and cooled|
|Ground almonds||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Dry bread crumbs||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Orange liqueur||3 Tablespoon|
Gradually beat in sugar and salt and continue beating until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
Stir in chocolate, almonds, bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons of the liqueur and the vanilla.
Pour into greased and floured 8-inch layer pan.
Bake at 375° about 25 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool in pan 5 minutes.
Invert onto rack and drizzle with remaining 1 tablespoon liqueur.
Garnish with sweetened whipped cream and thinly slivered orange rind, if desired.
