|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs), sifted|
|Corn meal||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Preferably White)|
|Baking powder||1 Tablespoon|
|Egg||1 , lightly beaten|
|Melted butter/Margarine||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Dark molasses||2 Tablespoon|
|Milk||1 1⁄3 Cup (21.33 tbs)|
Preheat oven to 375° F.
Sift flour, meal, salt, and baking powder together into a bowl.
Add remaining ingredients and beat just until blended.
Spoon into a greased 8"x8"x2" pan and bake 25-30 minutes until pale golden and springy to the touch.
Turn out on a wire rack and cool 1-2 minutes; turn upright, cut in 2" squares, and serve hot with plenty of butter.
